It’s been a few years since we’ve attended Indian Market and we decided that this was the year we needed to make our return. The overall impression… absolutely unreal! It is amazing how many contemporary art galleries have taken root there, and how much buzz they are generating. Right off of the Plaza there are several worth note, Canyon Road has it’s fair share of eye-catchers as well, and then there is the emerging Railyard area that shouldn’t be missed. Who knew that a town famous for it’s traditional Native arts could be such a modern day du jour? Speaking of which, during Market itself, it was quite exciting to see how many young Native American artists were “weaving” their rich cultural heritage into new mediums and into more conceptual territory. Definitely worth the trip!
